If you have a male dog, go out and pee on all the stuff he usually pees on in the yard. It might be best to do this at night so that the neighbors don't see you. When the dog comes out the next time, he'll start sniffing around and get all confused, and then he'll try and mark everything in a 100-yard radius to prove he's the boss.
